Launch an onboarding course on first login

Choose the course that starts automatically the first time your learners sign in. Only one onboarding course is active at a time.

In Share your courses

The onboarding course starts on its own the first time a learner signs in, just after they choose their language. Use it to introduce Complement, your organisation or a first module to take.

Before you start#

  • Only Administrators and Content managers see this option.
  • Publish the course before turning it on: a learner can only take a published course. See Publish a course.

Turn on the onboarding course#

  1. Open Trainings › your course › Settings.
  2. In the Onboarding group, turn on Use as onboarding training.

The setting is saved automatically. The app sums it up as follows: "If you toggle this option, this training will start automatically at the end of an employee's onboarding".

What the option changes#

  • Only one onboarding course is active at a time. If another course was the onboarding course, it loses this status.
  • All your teams get access to the new onboarding course. The previous one is removed from all teams.
  • When you create a team, the onboarding course is already selected in the Trainings field. Teams created by an import get it automatically.

What the learner experiences#

  1. On their first login, they choose their language.
  2. The onboarding course opens straight away in the player, at the start of the first chapter.
  3. They then find it in My trainings, like their other courses.

The course only starts automatically once, on the first login. Learners who have already signed in simply find it in My trainings. Members of the teaching team do not go through this step, nor do learners whose account was created from your LMS: for them, add the onboarding course to a course in the LMS (see LMS: add courses, manage groups and grades).

Turn off the onboarding course#

Turn off Use as onboarding training. The course is then removed from all your teams. To keep it accessible, give access again to the teams concerned in the Access tab. See Give access to a course.
