Trainer or training provider: from trial to activation
Create your platform, test it during the free trial, publish a first course, then choose between learner seats and hour credit.
In Rollout guides
You train on your own or within a training provider, and you are starting Complement by yourself. This guide takes you from sign-up to activating your platform. Each step gives the key action and links to the article that covers it in detail.
Step 1: create your platform#
Sign up online, with no bank card, then activate your space from the email you receive: its link is valid for one hour. You become the platform's Administrator.
Complement then asks you to create your first team. Name it after your first client or your first session: you will give access to your courses team by team.
The details: Create your platform.
Step 2: know the trial limits#
The free trial gives you access to Complement within four limits:
- 7 days;
- 1 creator seat, taken by your account;
- 5 learners;
- 5 hours of use.
The bottom of the menu shows Free trial and the number of days remaining. The trial ends after 7 days, or earlier if the 5 hours are used up. The platform then becomes read-only: nothing is deleted, but your learners no longer have access to their courses.
During the trial, you cannot add another course creator. You can, however, add a colleague or a client as a Guest: they view your courses without editing them and do not take a seat. See Manage the teaching team.
Step 3: follow the Getting started checklist#
The Getting started checklist, at the bottom of the menu, guides you through four steps that tick themselves off:
- Customize my platform: replace the default logo with your own, in Admin. It appears in your learners' menu and in some of the emails they receive.
- Create my first module: see step 4.
- Add learners: see step 5.
- Launch my training: it is ticked as soon as a course is published.
The details: The Getting started checklist and Customise your organisation.
Step 4: create your first course#
Open Trainings, click Create training and enter a title. Then choose your starting point:
- you have material as a PDF or images: import it, and each page becomes a slide. Export a PowerPoint to PDF first. See Import a PDF or images and Reuse an existing module;
- you have course documents: click Generate with AI (Beta), describe the module and add your documents. The AI builds the slides, their scripts, the quizzes and interaction questions. See Generate a course with AI.
Then complete and check the course:
- Give each imported slide a script: write it, dictate it or click Generate script with AI. See Write the avatar's script.
- End each chapter with a quiz of at least one complete question. See Create the end-of-chapter quiz.
- Take the course as a learner would with Test from here (training preview). See Preview a course.
- Click Publish. If something is missing, a message tells you what to fix. See Publish a course.
Step 5: invite your first learners#
During the trial, invite up to 5 learners: a colleague, a pilot client, a few volunteer participants.
- Open Employees and click Add an employee. Choose their team and the Email invitation option: the learner chooses their own password. See Add a learner.
- In the Access tab of your published course, tick their team and click Save. Complement then offers to announce the course by email. See Give access to a course.
When you first publish during the trial, the "Your course is live" email also offers to invite testers.
Then follow their first steps: the Progress tab shows where each learner is, and the Dashboard gathers the questions asked to the avatar. See Track learners' progress in a course.
Step 6: activate your platform#
Before the trial ends, click Activate my platform in Plan & Billing, or Free trial at the bottom of the menu. Activation keeps your courses, your learners and your settings, and lifts the trial limits. It has three steps: Creators, Learners and Payment. Payment is completed on Stripe's secure page.
Creators: take one seat per person who creates or publishes courses. An independent trainer takes one; a training provider plans one for each trainer who designs its courses. Reviewers stay Guests, without a seat.
Learners: choose the plan that fits your activity. Only one plan is active at a time.
| Learner seats | Hour credit | |
|---|---|---|
| Principle | A set number of learners, billed every month | Unlimited learners; the hours used are deducted from a credit paid in advance |
| Suits you if | You follow the same learners over time: long programmes, regular groups from the same client | Your sessions follow one another with varying numbers: short sessions, mixed groups from several companies |
| Watch out for | A seat stays taken as long as the learner's account exists | Running out of credit makes the platform read-only until you top up |
You can change plans later, in Plan & Billing, with Switch to hours or Switch to seats. Prices are shown on the Pricing page.
The details: Activate your platform and Manage your subscription.
